Village Reaccredited
Carroll Lutheran Village receives CARF-CCAC accreditation.
In a letter dated November 16, 2011, Dr. Brian Boon, President/CEO of CARF International (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) informed Village personnel that Carroll Lutheran Village has earned CARF-CCAC accreditation as a Continuing Care Retirement Community for another five-year period, with annual demonstration of conformance to CARF-CCAC standards. First accredited in 1991 by CCAC (Continuing Care Accreditation Commission), the Village has achieved its fifth accreditation, for the last two under the combined CARF-CCAC evaluation process.
The report stated in its accreditation decision: “Carroll Lutheran Village demonstrates a high level of conformance to the CARF-CCAC standards.” Those standards number over 1,100, of which the Village was commended for embracing the standards in every aspect of its work. The report continues: “The organization’s strengths are numerous with a focus on meeting the mission; creative and meaningful programs; an attractive physical plant; and an appreciation, both internally and externally, for the community. The strength of relationships from the larger community/county was evidenced by the support of many external stakeholders.”
Boon further wrote in his letter: “This achievement is an indication of your organization’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served.” Geary Milliken, President & CEO of the Village, indicates that “CARF-CCAC accreditation is the highest in the continuing care retirement industry and demonstrates the Village’s commitment to excellence.” He also commended Barbara Leasure, Director of Compliance & Education, for leading the Village through an outstanding self-study before the arrival of evaluators from California and Pennsylvania for the site visit in early October.
Of the 1900+ continuing care retirement communities nationwide, only 15% of them are CARF-CCAC accredited.
